Privacy Policy

Better Today is a personal day planner made by Quadralyst Private Limited ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Better Today, why, where it is kept, and how to delete it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past — it is short because the app is simple: almost everything Better Today stores is something you typed or photographed yourself, and it exists so that you can see it again on your other devices.

What this covers

This policy applies to every version of Better Today:

• the web app at app.bettertoday.app and mobile.bettertoday.app,
• the Chrome extension (also on other Chromium browsers),
• the iOS and Android apps,
• and this website, bettertoday.app.

What we collect

Your account

You sign in with Google, with Apple, or with your email address (a sign-in link or a password). From that we keep your email address, a display name (initially taken from the part of your email address before the @; you can change it in your profile), and a profile photo if you set one. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store them in readable form.

What you put in the planner

This is the bulk of what we store, and all of it is yours: tasks and subtasks, goals, habits and trackers and the values you log against them, journal entries, memories, gratitude notes, quotes, bookmarks (a link and a title), and your settings. If you delegate a task to someone, we store the name and, optionally, the email address you enter for them so you can pick them again next time. Better Today never contacts those people; the app only prepares text you can paste into your own email or chat.

Trackers hold whatever you decide to track. Some people track things like weight, sleep or mood; we treat every tracker the same way — as private planner data — and we do not analyse it, categorise it, or use it for anything other than showing it back to you. Better Today is a planner, not a medical service, and nothing in it is medical advice.

Photos

You can attach photos to memories, journal entries and gratitude notes, and set a profile photo. Photos are shrunk on your device (to at most 1024 px on the longest side) before they are uploaded, and are stored in your own private folder that only your account can read.

When you add a photo to a memory, the app looks for faces in it so the card can be cropped around people rather than around the middle of the picture. This runs entirely on your device. The image is not sent anywhere for this, no face data or "face template" is created or stored, and the only thing kept is a crop position for the card.

Purchases

If you subscribe, we keep a record of the plan, the dates it runs, its status, and a reference from the payment provider so we can show your billing history and keep your subscription active. Payment itself happens on the payment provider's checkout page, or through Apple's App Store or Google Play when you buy in the mobile apps. We never receive your card number or other payment details.

How the app is used

We use Google's Firebase Analytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring to see which features are used and how quickly the app loads. The events we record are things like "task created", "goal updated", "signed in with Google" or "photo added to journal" — never the text of a task, a note, a tracker value, or a photo. Firebase also receives the usual technical details that come with any request: an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device type and operating system, and the app version. Analytics is switched off entirely in the Chrome extension.

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits. The apps do not show ads, and we do not use any advertising networks or trackers.

Permissions the apps ask for

Chrome extension. It requests three permissions. identity is used only to sign you in with Google. storage keeps a couple of local settings, such as whether new tabs should open the planner. tabs is used only to open the planner in a new tab and to honour your new-tab setting; the extension does not read your browsing history, the pages you visit, your bookmarks, or the contents of any tab. It has no content scripts and runs nothing on other websites.

iOS and Android. The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to add or change a photo. Notifications are local reminders for your own tasks and are generated on the device. The apps do not ask for your contacts or your location.

What we do with it

• Run the planner — store what you enter and sync it between your devices.
• Keep your account working — sign you in, send you sign-in links and receipts, and let you know about important changes to the service. These are transactional emails; we do not send marketing emails.
• Manage subscriptions — know which plan you are on and when it renews.
• Improve the app — understand which features are used and where it is slow, using the anonymous events described above.
• Keep it secure — detect abuse and protect accounts.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build profiles for anyone else. Your planner content is never used to train any machine-learning model.

Chrome Web Store disclosure

The Chrome extension's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google sign-in is used only to sign you in and identify your account.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers to run Better Today. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, hosting, analytics and performance monitoring.
• An email delivery service — to send the transactional emails above. It receives your email address and name.
• A payment provider, and Apple and Google — to take payment when you subscribe. They handle the transaction under their own privacy policies; we receive confirmation and a reference, not your payment details.

Beyond that, we would disclose data only if the law required it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or ourselves.

Where it is stored

Your data is stored on Google Cloud in the United States (the nam5 multi-region for the database, and us-central1 for related services). Wherever you are, your data travels to and is kept there, protected in transit by TLS and at rest by Google's encryption.

Security

Every piece of planner data is stored under your own account and guarded by access rules that let only your signed-in account read or write it. Photos are the same. Subscription and billing fields can be changed only by our server, never from the app. All traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted.

How long we keep it, and how to delete it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account.

You can delete your account from inside the app, from the profile menu, on any platform. When you do, everything is removed straight away: your planner content, your photos, your purchase records, your sign-in account, and your entry with our email provider. Nothing is kept for later. Copies may remain in our backups for up to 30 days, after which they are gone too.

If you cannot sign in and want your account deleted, email us at the address below from the email address on the account and we will do it for you.

Your choices

• Everything you have entered can be viewed, edited or deleted in the app at any time.
• Reminders can be turned off in your device's notification settings.
• In the Chrome extension, the new-tab takeover can be switched off in Settings.
• You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing us. We will respond within 30 days.

Information about other people

If you enter another person's name or email address (for example, when delegating a task), you are responsible for having a good reason to. We store it only so you can reuse it, we never contact that person, and it is deleted with the rest of your account.

Children

Better Today is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
